Hampi is a ancient state of Karnataka, known as Pampa-kshetra, Kishkindha-kshetra or Bhaskara-kshetra—is derived from Pampa, another name of the goddess Parvati. Famous places are Sri Virupaksha Temple, Vijaya Vittala Temple, Sasivekalu Ganesha Temple, Lakshmi Narasimha Temple. Hampi is one of the World Heritage Sites of UNESCO.
